I don't think Chavez is yet a Marxist. He definitely gave openings for socialists to have a forum.

Chavez made mistakes in the referendum. He can retreat and regroup, por ahora.

Ok,
One more question, then I will leave you alone. I promise. I was reading this morning on one of my favorite websites, Speigal Online, which is renowned for its impartiality and willingness to approach "problematic" world leaders and get their perspectives. Today, there was an article on the defeat of the reform packages, albeit by a slim mmajority. However, it was still defeated. How does this fit into the above observations? Could he be a popularist leaders, without massive ideological support?

Cheers,
Insightful and informative. I am ashamed how limited my knowledge of this area of the world is. I really can't help but be skeptical of revolutionaries. Why? Because that is what we are indoctrinated with.

Josh,
I really enjoyed your presentation yesterday. I was excited to watch the remainder of the video you began, and to do some further snooping. I hold many views similar to your views, although mine are leagues shallower then yours. Your knowledge is fantastic. Could you respond to this article in the BBC? How do you feel about these changes in the constitution in Venezuela? I am more concerned to see your understanding of the students opposition then the obviously slanted bias of the BBC.
